With Lee in Virginia
Published in Paperback by PrestonSpeed Publications (18 July, 1999)
Authors: G. A. Henty, Gordon Browne, George A. Henty, and George Calhoun
Average review score:

Wonderful history lesson of the Civil War
An extra bonus in this Henty book is that it includes both the English preface and the American one, which Henty wrote to the 'lads' who would read this book. In With Lee in Virginia Vincent Wingfield is the main character, one who lives on a plantation run by slaves, but who is strongly against being cruel to slaves. When he clashes with the overseer over Pearson having whipped a slave, Vincent never imagines it will cause such trouble. Soon, though, Vincent gets involved in the fate of the slave he saved, Tony. Will Vincent be able to help the man escape from the wicked Jackson? What about Tony's wife, who Jackson is selling for revenge? This book draws you right in plantation life in the 18hundreds, you will feel happy with the knowledge that 'your' slaves are safe, and will never even consider that you are doing wrong by keeping slaves. Vincent enlists as a volunteer after Virginia secedes and accomplishes many deeds of bravery. This is just another in a long line of thrilling books writing by George Alfred Henty, don't miss reading a single one!!!

Superb!
This book is definitely one of Mr. Henty's masterpieces. It gives a clear view of the South's situation and why the Civil War was fought. I highly enjoyed this book, both for its content and the way history is mingled with a gripping plot. I can't tell you too much because I might spoil it, but it is about a young Southern man who joins the Confederate army and distinguises himself through his many adventures.

Exciting and engaging, I couldn't put it down.
I really loved this book written from a rare Confederate view point. The author beautifully portrayed virtues such as honor and courage in the young hero, Vincent. They say these books are written for teenage boys, but I'm a twelve year old girl and I couldn't put down the book for three days. It is probably won of the most exciting books I've ever read.

Now, I can get what I want and it is fun! I didn't realize how often I was negotiating, but now I can control the deals I make. It is easy to read and very empowering. I highly recommend reading it.

A great read for anyone looking to improve their negotiating
The book is a great read for any woman and can be especially helpful for those just starting out in today's business world. With a straight to point the narrative and candid anecdotes and interviews, the book offers a fresh perspective to negotiation for a woman's point of view. A great read for anyone who is trying to improve their negotiating techniques!

Every Woman Really Can Benefit From This Book.
I never thought I could negotiate but after reading this book I find that I am able to get what I want, not only at work but from from my husband and from my friends as well. The techniques described in the book even work with my children. I expected to find advice about negotiating at work but I was surprised to learn how the same techniques work at home as well. Now I'm teaching the Kids!
I was getting sick and tired of asking my daughter and son, (10 and 14 year-olds) how to do anything and everything on the PC we've owned for a year. I challenged myself to running our business from home with me and the PC at the helm! Within 4 days of receiving this book, I feel confident to tackle anything the machine can throw at me - I'm designing letterheads, customizing documents, sending e-mails...you name it, I now feel confident to try it.

This book has completely dispelled all my fears about computers - now I'm ordering a copy to be sent to my 68 year-old Dad!

Keeps it Easy & Interesting!
If you don't know how to use Microsoft Word 97, or want to learn how to do more advanced tasks in it and thoroughly understand them, then this is the book for you. Clear, helpful pictures guide the way to where you should click in a very easy to follow step-by-step form. Plus great 3D drawings fill the top half of each page, with a friendly disk character explaining what you will learn on the current page and why you would need to use that feature. And if that's not enough to keep you interested in the book, every page is full color! If you want an easy-to-understand guide to Word 97 that won't bore you, then this is the book to get.

The best book you could buy to learn Word 97!
I had never worked with Word 97 before last year. This book helped me to learn the application quickly. It presents the material in a clear and simplied manner that is easy for even the most novice Word user. I highly recommend this book.

Working
Published in Paperback by Pinnacle Books (October, 1989)
Authors: Delores French and Linda Lee
Average review score:

Probably the best PR for consensual adult prostitution
Amongs the best real-life accounts of the consensual adult prostitution business I have read next to the excellent Sydney Biddle Barrows, 'Mayflower Madam'.

Delores French is an 'ordinary woman' with a zest for life, who chooses an extraordinary lifestyle.

She's a women who enjoys her job: entertaining men in numerous ways..from the conversational to the carnal.

Independent, gutsy, quick-witted and terribly sensible;
Ms. French also has a killer sense of humour.

She has been a professional prostitute in the USA and several other countries.

Because she is a bit of an inquisitive, bright-spark she takes the opportunity to explore all levels of the job...from high class courtesan to street walker.

When she susses out the workings of a scene she moves on to pastures green and adapts to her new surroundings.

Rivetting, amazing, shocking ...but highly educational too.
I learnt a hell of a lot from Dolores- THANK YOU BIG-TIME GIRL!

If you are not a prostitute you need to read it to get an insight into what men 'really' want; if you are a prostitute you need to read it to discover how to be a better one.

Written with clarity and detail.

Absolutely fabulous.

Will always, always, always be on my bookshelf.

Delightful, informative
This is the most informative and delightful book on this subject tha I have encountered. Delores French experiences it all, and writes it. I'd love to meet this lady.

An interesting read, not your average prostitute...
Dolores is an exceptional woman in that as a prostitute she decides to experience every facet and level of the work. She starts out from the ripe age of 27 (most girls would consider retiring at that age) to begin escorting then working in a brothel and also trying street walking. She's quite brave (and crazy) but I don't understand why she would want to experience street walking when escorting is so much safer. Like I said, she is not your average working girl.

Wonderful Therapy!
I never thought that I would pick up, much less use, a crayon again! Very delightful and humorous. I enjoyed every page!

"Funnily Punny"
This was amuzing from start to finish, and I was sorry to get to the last page. In the English language so many phrases could mean something else. This book illustrates what that something else might be. Liked the unique views of the workplace too. And the use of animals and people in reverse. I really can't compare it to anything else. It's one of a kind--an unusal illustrated point of view. I chuckled and smiled while reading these cartoons. My father on the other hand was laughing out loud, and reread them every day for weeks. I too read it again and again. And yes, I finally got out my crayons. This is a book I think everyone would enjoy. An unique gift of smiles.

A Unique and Fun Book...Get Out Your Crayons and Enjoy!!
Hey...who said coloring books are just for kids! This collection of cartoons gets you laughing and coloring at the same time! Name a topic and this award-winning cartoonist has it covered. Her whimsical style of drawing and play on words is delightful. The author,a pituitary tumor and former meningitis patient discovered a unique healing and wellness tool when hospitalized.Lucky for us.This book has been endorsed by physicians as a "prescription for humor".I agree!!

25 Tough Questions About Women and the Church: Biblical Answers to Help Christians Overcome Gender Prejudice
Published in Paperback by Charisma House (April, 2003)
Author: J. Lee Grady
Average review score:

Excellent!!
Can't say enough good things about this book. It's about time we get past Dark Ages ideas about gender and Christianity, most of which have no biblical basis. He gives good practical advice for applying mutual submission in marriage, what abused spouses should do, how to balance work and family, etc. May God continue to bless his calling.

50% of God's workforce set free by this book!
With a full 50% of God's workforce disabled to some extent by the lies of his enemy, it's apparent God anointed J. Lee Grady to pursue this topic, search out the truth, and set the captives free. It doesn't matter whether you are in ministry currently or not, whether you are male or female, everyone needs to read this book. Especially men in ministry. We can change things! Get his other book "The 10 Lies the Church Tells Women" also. Resist the old mindset and just check it out.

Imagine the Greece, Sudan, Nigeria, and other 3rd world countries with this truth.

My wife has ministered for 33 years and she loves it also.

Abigail Adams
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Books (Trd Pap) (May, 1988)
Author: Phyllis Lee Levin
Average review score:

Abigail Adams -- At long last !!!
At last, a well written, well researched book on one of America's most fascinating ladies, Abigail Adams. Based on carefully interjected original research and letters, this book provides a long needed look at the issues and challenges that faced Abigail Adams. The author portrays her as a woman, very much in love with her husband, very much in love with her country, and very willing to try to balance the needs of both. It is striking to realize how totally independent she became in financial affairs, and in domestic issues. The book reminds you of the challenges of communications and distance. It also makes you aware of the personal sacrifices this family made for the young, emerging nation. The focus of the book is on Abigail, but sufficient information on the political events and political players is provided. An excellent look at a very important person. Don't miss it if you enjoy this period of history and are anxious to understand more about its key players.

Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams by Phyllis Lee Levin is an excellent companion work for David McCullough's John Adams.

Throughout life Abigail and John were inseparable, best of friends, and each others life. Through circumstances John was away in the service of forming a government and the duties to a new nation, but Abigail was not far from his heart, nor he from hers.

We see an unabated ardor in her for her "Best Friend" in life. Abigail Adams saw and wrote with clarity about the time leading to and after the Revolutionary War, and events following and her humanity. We have a unique perspective of the life and times of this period through her eyes written for posterity through her letters to a variety of people surrounding her life.

Not since Barbara Bush, has a woman been both a wife and mother to a President of the United States, even though she dies before John Quincy is elected. Abigail kept her family close to her heart and was the one to keep the family together and the family homestead viable in John's absence.

This is a well written book, solid in research, flowing prose and good details. This book captures Abigail Adams and shows us her intellegence and her perceptiveness of the events of her times. She wrote letters to Jefferson and had comments about all of the people, albeit caustic or poignant, close to John's work and life.

She loved John and missed him greatly when he was away, her letters attest to that, but when she was at his side both flourished. This book gives us a great insight into how Abigail was as a woman and how she coped with private and public life.

I recommend reading and enjoying this book.

A Must Read for Everyone Again and Again!
I could not put this book down once I started reading it! I keep a copy in my desk at work for those times when I need a "quick fix" on the Word of God. Just about any page you open up has scripture to feed my soul and keep me "above the circumstances" instead of under.

Excellent Reading
This book is the best I have read for many years. It is very up lifting. I would recomend this to every one to read.
